Catching Up

Something that the kids are always excited for is spending time with their Learning Buddy. Often we play Math or Language games, read books, or,once in a while, head outdoors together. This week we played a game called "Four In A Row" which reviews a little Math, a little letter/sound recognition, and a lot of strategizing! It is a fun game that keeps both the younger and older student engaged.

This week in Language we have been discussing character, setting, problem and solution. Using Sadie And The Snowman was the perfect non-fiction book for the kids to clearly identify each of these features. We will continue to explore this while enjoying our read-alouds. Madame Crawford read the French version so that the children could compare the two books. They were very excited to hear the words in another language.

Thankfully the freezing rain stayed away and I was able to dig into the snow so that we could play with it indoors! A wonderful way to play, but it also supports Science as the children learn about freezing, melting, slush, and the effects of warm air. We had quite the pool by the time we were done but it was so much fun!

Because of the snow day today I will take the children to the Library on Monday as I am sure they were disappointed to have missed it.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Snowball Fight!!!!!

Being stuck indoors for the past couple of days can make for some wiggly kids! What better day than today to head down to the gym for a snowball fight? I wish I had pictures of the kids running around having a snowball fight with foam balls in the gym! We sure were sweaty when we were done! Each week we will be heading down to the gym on Day 4 for more fun and skill work. Beginning next week we will be heading to the Computer Lab. Like I said.....New year....new beginnings!

Library Visits

January marks the month of new beginnings. Yesterday was the kick-off to our weekly visits to the Library where we can browse and select a book to borrow. I will place a reminder note in your child's Note Tote that Library is the following day as our schedule may change from time to time. Please send this laminated note back so that it may be reused the following week. Thank you :o)

Happy reading with your child!

New Year...New Note Totes!

Happy New Year! Hope this new year brings lots of wonderful things your way!
Upon our return to school you'll notice that there are new Note Totes! Your child is proficient at recognizing his/her first name so...the challenge will change to recognizing their last name. Please remember to send the Note Tote back and forth to school as it is our primary means of communication.
